ROUND RING-
The round ring is the most popular ring hardware used. The metal can be mounted on the spine or the back cover. With capacities of 2-1/2" or larger, a D ring tends to allow the sheets & tabs align flush right better. Hardware is available in nickel and can be economically sprayed in a variety of colors. The levers on both sides of the hardware are called boosters. These allow for the easy opening & closing and most hardware is available without them if requested.

MEASURING RING CAPACITIES-
The capacity of a round ring metal is the inside diameter of the arches. While the trade refers to the capacities as 1inch, 1-1/2 inch, etc., the inside measurements are equal or greater up to an 1/8" than the capacity. For best results, contents should measure approximately 1/4" less than the ring capacity. We recommend making a bulking dummy of the contents prior to the final determination of the ring capacity.

ADDITIONAL INSERTS-
When indexes, vinyl slide sheets or sheet lifters are included in the binder, please allow for additional space. A good allowance to use is 1 tab equals 4 leaves and 1 slide sheet equals 20 leaves. 2 curved lifters commonly used with large round ring capacities take 1/4" of the available space.

HOLE PUNCHING-
For an 8 1/2"X 11" sheet, the center of the hole is usually 1/4" to 5/16" from the left edge. The spacing is 4 1/4"CC and the hole diameter ranges from 1/4" to 9/32" depending on the ring capacity.

STRAIGHT D RING-
The D ring was developed as an alternative to the round ring as some feel that the insert page sit flush right better. This is especially important for larger capacities and where many tabs will be used. The metal is always mounted the back cover. Hardware is available in nickel and can be economically sprayed in a variety of colors. The levers on both sides of the hardware are called boosters. These allow of the easy opening & closing and most hardware is available without them if requested.

MEASURING RING CAPACITIES-
The capacity of a D ring metal is measured by the length of the straight part of the hardware.

1 flat lifter is commonly used with larger capacities which does not significantly impact the available space.

SLANT D RING-
The slant D ring was developed as an alternative to the Straight D ring as some feel that the angle of the ring allows the insert pages to lay in a natural stepped fashion making it easier to view all of the contents. This is especially important for larger capacities and where many tabs will be used. The covers and the spine are usually made larger for slant D ring constructions and the metal is always mounted the back cover. hardware is available in nickel and can be economically sprayed in a variety of colors. The levers on both sides of the hardware are called boosters. These allow for the easy opening & closing and most hardware is available without them if requested.

MEASURING RING CAPACITIES-
The capacity of a slant D ring metal is measured by the length of the straight part of the hardware.
